Why we need your data:
- Contractual obligations
We need to know who you are and your contact details in order to process your membership application. The contract is on-going so we will hold details of your name, address and contact details. When you are paying for your membership, the payment provider needs to know your details to verify the card – this information is not retained by us.
We can collect and process your data with your consent when you sign up to be a member or to our newsletter.
- Legal compliance
We may be legally bound to collect and process your data if there were a criminal investigation or fraudulent activity against BLD. In these cases we need to pass details to law enforcement.
How and why we use personal data:
We will use your personal data to fulfil our contractual obligations with you as outlined above. In addition, we may contact your from time to time about new things, such as new partner attractions, or any special offers. The data privacy law allows this as part of our contractual obligations and legitimate business in understanding our members and providing relevant services for them. We will hold your data in our systems for as long as you are a member and thereafter for 6 years for accountancy and legal purposes.

We collect personal data in a number of ways:
- When you join as a member
- When you sign up to our newsletter
- When you comment about or review BLD
- When you engage with us on social media
- When you have given a third party permission to share information they hold about you with us.
Who we share your data with:
We share your information with third party companies who help us in processing the data in hosting the website and companies who process the payments on our behalf. We will never sell or trade your contact details with any third parties, unless you have given us your consent to do so. There are some instances where we may have to share your information based on our legal obligations, for instance, fraudulent activity or a criminal investigation.

When the contract between you and BLD ends, you can withdraw your consent to hear from BLD at any time. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org do this. If you wish to have a copy of all the information held, please request this using the same email address. Whilst, BLD are entitled to contact members about membership information, you have the choice whether you want to receive marketing information from us and you can withdraw your consent for this at any time. To stop the use of your personal data for direct marketing, please email email@example.com

Protection of personal data and length of time kept:
The security of your personal data is very important to us and we take care to handle it in line with legislation. All data stored electronically is password protected at two stages. Any data stored in paper format will be kept securely on the premises. We will retain your data whilst your contract is on-going. After your contract ends, we will retain your information for the minimum period possible for business or legal reasons. For legal reasons, this is often set at 6 years.
